In this work I bring attention to another urgent issue in American culture: gun violence. This work came from an observation of my nieces playing an unfamiliar game. I later learned that it was their re-enactment of an active shooter drill from school. To underscore their youth and innocence, I created patterns of red-pink roses using stencils to introduce a child-like coloring book effect. I tie my memories to their childhood through scraps of brocade fabric and other material.
